If you’ve been following my blog, one of my gripes about recruiters are their obsession with linkedin. Now I understand that hardcore recruiters have been critiquing the actual level of “productivity,” for some time now. This isn’t the same critique.
What I don’t get is why recruiter merely use social networks to introduce themselves. Why don’t they close a sale? Why put your profile on internet if you aren’t going to bring your sales game with it?
Recruiters nowadays spend a good portion of their time on social networks in hopes of either finding candidates or clients. While building their massive networks, hundred if not thousands of people have viewed their profile. But does a candidate look at a profile and think ” this recruiter has over 500 connections, let me contact him for a job”? Why is it that very few do? Does a hiring manager contact a recruiter because he has more years of experience and skill xyz? Again, why is it that very few do?
One word, “incentives.” Nothing is calling them to action. A candidate is looking for jobs and you merely promise them jobs. A client is looking for a recruiter to find candidates and you merely promise them “candidates”. The reason why I have been able to secure top candidates over my competition is that I show them “a job”. The reason I have been able to secure clients is because I show them “candidates”. In short, my sales game doesn’t stop over the phone.
If your going to use Linkedin, for goodness sake please include a link to a sales page. Buy a cheap domain, put up a website, and sell your clients like you normally would over the phone. Use the exact sales pitch. Proactively answer potential questions, and sell, sell, sell. Graduate from having your “profile” online and get your actual business online. You’ll be surprised at how much more you can generate from such a simple move.
Part 2 will go through the steps I took to make one of my recruiting sites ( one of many since I target different niches) It will be up within 2 days.
Take a look at this website I whipped up not too long ago. I was going to use it for my companies website, but I decided to change it at the last minute. Instead I put up a fictitious recruiting company called If you want a website just like it, I can definitely make it happen.
The first thing you’ll recognize is that it is very professional looking. There aren’t an excess of images, but at the very same time the site isn’t boring. Thanks to the “slider” visitors to your website waste no time in finding out what sets your services apart. The contact section comes with a ready to use form where all your customers message’s get forwarded directly to your mail box.
I can create a website for you and your company just like this for only $99. You can go to any freelance developer out there and they will laugh at you if you ask them to make a website like this at that price.
I will only have time to do 10 of these for the month so please send me a message if you would like one for your company.
I don’t know a single person who complains about getting one of these for Valentines Day. This goes to show that you don’t have to spend a fortune on a good gift. It’s also fairly trendy. I ended up getting the 2nd one, but I think the others are pretty good too. What do you think?

So godaddy and buy.com apparantely have an arrangement going on that lets get 1 free domain registration for 1 year. All you have to do is buy something on Buy.com (no price limit from my understanding) and they will send you a coupon code for a free domain name.
I know its a free domain registration promotion, but for someone like me who purchases domains all the time, i kind of see it as a free CD promotion ( I’m buying the new U2 cd) since they are just about he same price. Here is a book on our new president
Barack Obama/ Barack Obamathat is about $6.00 and can get you in on this deal. It doesn’t matter if you voted for him or not, the point is you get a domain and a book for cheap. Choose the cheapest item you find.
